When he officially entered exile, he asked everyone to return, and while men and women obeyed, the transgender community chose to stay. Upon Lord Ram’s return to Ayodhya after 14 years, he discovered that the transgender community had been living in exile since the day he left. In recognition of their steadfastness, Lord Ram granted them a special boon: anyone receiving their blessings would be free of defects and blessed with prosperity.
Nandini explains that, following this legend, the transgender community has been visiting homes and establishments to bless and greet people on Diwali ever since. It is believed that meeting a transgender on Diwali and offering them a donation of money and make-up can bring good luck and favor. Additionally, such gestures are thought to bring success in various aspects of life, including jobs, business, education, and overall family happiness.
