Himanta & I Share 'Same DNA' But BJP Has...: Supriya Sule Reacts to Assam CM's Remark Linking Her & Israel-Hamas War
The BJP is disrespectful towards women. But I had hopes from Himanta Biswa Sarma, said Supriya Sule

Taking a jibe at Assam chief minister, Sharad Pawar’s daughter Supriya Sule on Thursday said that Himanta Biswa Sarma and she share the “same DNA” but BJP’s trait of “disrespecting women has rubbed off on him”.

Her reaction came after the Assam CM slammed Sharad Pawar for supporting Palestine in conflict with Israel and said that he thinks the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief will send his daughter and Lok Sabha MP Supriya Sule to Gaza to fight for Palestine-based terror group Hamas.

Reacting to Sarma’s statement, Sule said, “I am surprised because Himanta Biswa Sarma has the same DNA as me. He is originally from Congress. He and I share the same Congress DNA.”

The Lok Sabha MP further said, “You know how the BJP is disrespectful towards women. But I had hopes from Himanta Biswa Sarma. I am surprised how this change has happened towards women and the approach, probably going into BJP is a little rubbing off on him. BJP IT cell needs to understand and hear carefully what Sharad Pawar has said. Hear his entire statement.”

The verbal duel began when Pawar, the former Maharashtra chief minister, said that the Israel-Palestine issue is “serious and sensitive”, and views of Muslim countries like Afghanistan, United Arab Emirates and other nations cannot be ignored.

He added that he he did not believe that the Indian government had sided 100 per cent with Israel amid its war with Hamas.

Union Ministers Piyush Goyal and Nitin Gadkari teared into Pawar and termed his remark a “casual view” on issues relating to terror and said that the gravity of the situation necessitates a unified front against terrorism, irrespective of political affiliations or personal opinions.

On October 8, a day after Hamas launched its incursions, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed solidarity with Israel and condemned “terrorist” attacks. “Deeply shocked by the news of terrorist attacks in Israel. Our thoughts and prayers are with the innocent victims and their families. We stand in solidarity with Israel at this difficult hour,” Modi had said on X (formally Twitter).

On October 10, Modi told his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu that the people of India stand firmly with his country, expressing strong and unequivocal condemnation of terrorism in all its forms.
