Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has said that Kangana Ranaut is one of the ‘finest actors’ but has ‘other problems’ with her. In a recent interview for his recently released movie Haddi, Kashyap was also joined by Zeeshan Ayyub, who worked with Kangana in films like Tanu Weds Manu (2011), Tanu Weds Manu Returns (2015) and Manikarnika (2019).
“There was a time when Kangana as an actor, was superlative,” Zeeshan told Jist when Anurag interrupted and said, “She is the finest actor. She is very sincere when it comes to work, there are other problems that she has. However, when it comes to her talent, nobody can snatch that away from her.”
Anurag Kashyap and Kangana Ranaut have also worked together for the 2013 movie Queen. It was helmed under Phantom Films which is co-owned by Anurag.
In July 2020, Kashyap called out Kangana for her alleged ‘changed behaviour’. In a series of posts on the microblogging site X (formerly known as Twitter), Anurag had written, “I saw Kangana’s interview last night. She used to be a really good friend of mine. She would always motivate me for my films. But I don’t know this new Kangana. I saw a frightening interview of her which was recorded after the relase of Manikarnika.”
“No one has been able to keep themselves safe from the distraction caused by success and power, whether it be an insider or an outsider. ‘Learn from me, be like me,’ I never heard these things from her before 2015. From then to now, it has come to this that if someone is not with you, they are selfish and sycophant,” he added.
Later, Kangana had also responded to Kashyap’s post and had said, “I will always raise my voice for the honour of my nation. I live with honour, respect, self-respect and will live proudly as a nationalist! I will never compromise with my principles. I will never do it! Jai Hind.”
Since then, Kangana and Anurag have not collaborated for any project.
