Residents of Navi Mumbai’s Dronagiri, JNPT, Ulwe, Kharghar, and a few other nodes and villages in the Hetawane water supply line will face water cuts on two consecutive days this week.
According to a Mumbai Live report, the water cut will be applicable on the aforementioned nodes and the villages from January 5 to 6.
The call has been taken due to impending maintenance and repair work that is to be carried out on the supply line by the CIDCO. Notably, potable water in the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation areas is supplied from the Morbe dam, MIDC, and CIDCO.
12-hour Water Cut in Navi Mumbai
In the meantime, the water supply in Navi Mumbai’s Dronagiri, JNPT, Ulwe, Kharghar, and Taloja nodes and the villages on the Hetawane water supply line will remain closed from 9 AM on Friday, January 5 to 9 AM on Saturday, January 6.
The water supply is also expected to remain at low pressure for the next 24 hours. Consequently, the CIDCO has appealed to the residents of the affected areas to store adequate water and use it judiciously during the period.
The decision came days after another water cut was announced in a few other NMMC areas such as Belapur, Nerul, Sanpada, Vashi, Ghansoli, Airoli, and others in the wake of repairing and maintenance work by the NMMC water supply department.
It is pertinent to note that the concerns regarding the lack of adequate water are being time and again voiced by the residents on social media. Despite multiple assurances from the civic body, residents believe that the NMMC has minimal regard for the plight of the residents going by the regular maintenance-related shutdowns.
This comes at a time when there have been multiple water cuts in and around Maharashtra. Thereby, residents are precisely encouraged every time to conserve and use their water efficiently.
Water Cut in Thane
A month ago, the Thane Municipal Corporation informed the residents of a 12-hour water supply interruption in certain parts that needed urgent repair work.
Repairs were undertaken at the Katai Naka on Barbie gravity channel to the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation which resulted in a 12-hour halt in water supply from MIDC in the Thane municipal areas. Areas like Diva, Mumbra, Kalwa, Rupadevi Pada, Kisan Nagar No. 2., and a few others were impacted by the water cut.
