The film also marked actor Anshuman Jha's directorial debut and received a full-house standing ovation.

Rasika Dugal’s Lord Curzon Ki Haveli, helmed by Anshuman Jha as the director recently got a grand reception as the closing night film at the Chicago South Asian Film Festival (CSAFF) with a packed house audience giving it a standing ovation at the end. Anshuman Jha and Rasika Dugal had an hour-long Q&A session post the screening during which many audience members called it the best performance of Rasika and Arjun Mathur’s careers.

Talking about her character in the black comedy thriller, Rasika said, “I just had fun while shooting for this character Ira.” Rasika, who won a SAFA award for her performance, added, “It is because of festivals like these that artists like me are encouraged. Thank you to CSAFF for their curation and for respecting and nurturing our work.”

Meanwhile, Anshuman, who made his directorial debut with Lord Curzon Ki Haveli said, “I am extremely stoked by the response to our film in Australia and now in the windy city of Chicago. It’s a little overwhelming, to be honest – we had two Covid delays, a continental storm during shoot, man-made and natural challenges but the film is worth it all and these full house screenings around the globe are a shot in the arm for the team.”

Dean Gary Novak (DePaul) from the Chicago Film Institute called the film “an original” and “a modern-day homage to the classical greats like Hitchcock”. “This young filmmaker here is a voice in international cinema to reckon with,” said Dean Gary Novak.

Lord Curzon Ki Haveli is produced by Golden Ratio Films and First Ray Films, marking the directorial debut of actor Anshuman. The film had its world premiere at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) last month as the Centrepiece Spotlight film and is currently running in North America.

Besides Rasika Dugal and Arjun Mathur, the film also features performances by Paresh Pahuja, Zoha Rahman, Garrick Hagon and Tanmay Dhanania in pivotal roles.
