Salaar producer also revealed that even though the censor board suggested some cuts, director Prashant Neel was against it.

Prbhas starrer Salaar is one of the most awaited movies. While everyone is eagerly waiting for the Prashanth Neel directorial, it was recently revealed that the film has been given an ‘A – Adult Only’ certificate by the censor board. In a recent interview, the producer of the film, Vijay Kiragandur shared that the makers were ‘not okay’ with the CBFC decision and wanted a U/A certification for their film.

“We obviously wanted a ‘U/A’ because we want the family audience to come and watch the film. At the same time, we are now okay with an ‘A’ certificate. The rules have changed for the censor board and when they explained the reason behind it, we came to terms with it,” he told India today.

“It happened with ‘Animal’ as well. We met the censor officers, and they explained to us the new rules,” Vijay added.

The producer further revealed that even though the censor board suggested some cuts, director Prashant was not keen to do it and therefore, they decided to go ahead with the ‘A’ certificate only. “They suggested a few cuts to get ‘U/A’, but director Prashanth decided against the cuts because those were the scenes which would add to the character building of a violent man. Those scenes are important,” he said.

Hombale Films’ Salaar: Part 1: Ceasefire stars Prabhas along with Prithviraj Sukumaran, Shruti Haasan, and Jagapathi Babu in key roles. Made under the direction of Prashanth Neel, the film is produced by Vijay Kiragandur. Salaar has a duration of 2 hours and 55 minutes.

Recently, director Prashanth Neel also revealed that his film is an emotional story of two friends. “Salaar Part One is a completely different world; the action in the film is massive and there are strong characters, but above all, it has an emotional story—the story of two friends and their journey into the world of the Khansaar. I wanted to make an action-packed drama film with a story driven by emotions and friendship, and Salaar has given me that opportunity,” he said in a recent interview.

Salaar will be released in theatres on December 22, 2023.
