One of the most adorable and loved couples in Hollywood, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are known for their amazing love story. From being each other’s support system to lovingly roasting one another, they truly reflect a perfectly balanced relationship. After dating for around a year, Blake and Ryan got married in 2012. Speaking about their over a decade relationship, the Gossip Girl actress recently revealed a “rule” that she and her now-husband made in the initial years of their relationship.
Speaking at Amber Tamblyn’s Substack show Further Ado, the 36-year-old actress also shared how the rule helped them balance their career and relationship.
“When Ryan and I got together, we made a rule not to work at the same time. So that we could always prioritize our personal lives. That takes working really hard when we’re not. Just like financial planning and sustaining that, it takes balance,” Lively said while highlighting the importance of prioritising their personal lives.
She further opened up on how she used to “work hard and go and go and go and not stop,” adding how Gossip Girl would take most of her time in six years of her life. “We were sometimes shooting three episodes at once,” she said.
In a conversation with People in October last year, the Deadpool actor spoke about approaching parenthood at the top of their work schedules and teaching the importance of ‘self-awareness’ to their children.
“I think it’s more about talking to them about everything. It’s genuine when I say I take a huge interest in their days and how things are going. For me, the best time of my day is walking them to school and walking them back,” he said, further adding that things have changed when it comes to dealing with children.
“It’s just totally different now. People are much more self-aware. And that’s the thing we sort of hang our hat on the most is self-awareness with our kids. Not be happy, not be anything, just be self-aware and welcome everything in,” he added.
For the unversed, Lively and Reynolds met through work. They featured in the superhero film Green Lantern but didn’t date at the time as they were in other relationships. While Lively was dating Penn Badgley, Reynolds was married to Scarlett Johansson. However, it was in 2010 that the two announced their separation. Finally, in 2011, speculation started making the rounds about their dating. Giving rest to all, the couple tied the knot in September 2012 in a small secret ceremony.
