CAT 2023: Meet Pulkit Daga, Food Blogger With 7 Lakh Followers on Instagram, Who Scored 99.14 Percentile
Pulkit Daga, who scored 99.14 percentile in CAT 2023, hopes to gain admission to either IIM Ahmedabad or the Faculty of Management Studies (FMS) in Delhi. He wants to work in the food industry someday

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Lucknow announced the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2023 result on December 21 at iimcat.ac.in. With a score in the 99.14 percentile, Pulkit Daga, 24, became one of the top scorers in the country. He is a food vlogger with nearly seven lakh YouTube and Instagram subscribers.

A Class 12 commerce student who went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in management studies (BMS) from Delhi University, Pulkit had always planned to do an MBA. He recently explained how his love of food evolved into food vlogging and content creation. He also added that Covid-19 and the resulting lockdown undoubtedly played a role in vlogging.

Pulkit Daga, who uses the handle “Worthytale,” began posting more frequently on Instagram. In May 2020, he launched his YouTube channel. It was an instant success. Within the first year, he had 1 lakh subscribers. His pursuit of an MBA degree, on the other hand, was less smooth. He first attempted the CAT exam in 2019 but was unable to gain admission to the institution of his choice. He then decided to work in the financial services industry in November 2020. He was juggling work on his expanding content creation platforms at the same time. He began working remotely from Delhi and later relocated to Mumbai.

“I used to go out a lot and used to take a lot of pictures for Snapchat stories. Then I got really into it and started posting them, particularly on Instagram. A lot of people liked it and it grew very well. On Instagram, initially, I used to cover cafes and restaurants, but during the lockdown, I started doing recipes with my mother because I couldn’t go out. We made a dessert recipe for caramel custard pudding. It got almost 3 lakh views, which was huge at the time because I had only about 10,000 followers. That was the breakthrough video for me,” Pulkit Daga said as quoted by Careers360.

Pulkit Daga quit his job in May 2023 to pursue content creation full-time. He began preparing for CAT 2023 in June. Daga, who scored 99.14 per cent, hopes to gain admission to either IIM Ahmedabad or the Faculty of Management Studies (FMS) in Delhi. He also wants to work in the food industry someday.

This year, around 3.28 lakh candidates registered for the CAT 2023, out of which about 2.88 lakh candidates had appeared for the examination. In addition, the overall attendance was approximately 88 per cent. A total of 14 students – all male, with 11 coming from an engineering background – received a perfect score (100 percentile).
