The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has invited online applications for the Single Girl Child Scholarship 2023 scheme. In addition to that, the board has also opened the renewal portal for those students who were awarded the Single Girl Child Scholarship in 2022. Eligible candidates willing to apply for the scholarships can visit the official website of the CBSE board at cbse.gov.in.
It is to be noted that the last date to submit the online applications is October 18, 2023. Under the Single Girl Child scholarship scheme, only Indian students will be given Rs 500 per month. However, the scholarship will be awarded for a maximum period of two years.
CBSE SINGLE GIRL CHILD SCHOLARSHIP 2023: ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Only those candidates will be eligible to apply for this who are the only child in the family. Furthermore, they should have qualified Class 10 with an aggregate of 60 per cent or more from a CBSE-affiliated school and are currently studying in Class 11 from the same school. It is important to note that the monthly tuition fee must not exceed Rs 1,500 per month in Class 10 and 10 per cent enhancement for Class 11 and 12.
Whereas for renewal, students should have achieved the CBSE Single Girl Child Merit Scholarship last year. Moreover, she should have scored 50 per cent or more marks in Class 11 from a CBSE-affiliated school and further promoted to Class 12.
“All Single Girl Students, who have secured 60 per cent or more marks in CBSE Class X Examination and are studying Class XI and XII in School (affiliated with CBSE) whose tuition fee is not more than Rs 1,500 per month during the academic year, shall be considered for the purpose. In the next two years, the total enhancement in tuition fee in such school shall not be more than 10 per cent of the tuition fee charged”, the official statement read.
CBSE SINGLE GIRL CHILD SCHOLARSHIP 2023: STEPS TO APPLY
Step 1: Visit the official portal of the CBSE board at cbse.gov.in
Step 2: Click on the link that says, ‘Single girl child scholarship X-2023 REG’ on the homepage
Step 3: Now, click on the designated scholarship application link
Step 4: A new tab will appear on the screen, select the type of application, that is, SGC-X fresh application or renewal
Step 5: Once done, fill out the application form as directed
Step 6: Upload the required documents mentioned in the form
Step 7: Then, submit the application and download the form for future reference
The scholarship scheme was launched by the central board in 2006. The recipients of this single girl child scholarship are encouraged to pursue their desire to learn and seize new opportunities. The reason behind the CBSE merit scheme is to recognise the efforts of the parents in promoting education among girls and provide encouragement to meritorious students.
