A terrorist from the Islamist outfit Al-Badr operating in Jammu and Kashmir has been arrested, top intelligence sources told CNN-News18 on Thursday.
Jawed Matto was apprehended by Delhi police based on intel inputs and following a two-month exercise, they added.
He is believed to be an ‘A++’ level terrorist from Sopore, said the sources.
Matto, they said, was previously with Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM) and later joined Al-Badr.
He had a bounty of Rs 12.5 lakh on him and was inactive for almost 9 years, said sources.
However, they said, Matto was involved in the killing of policemen in 2013-14.
Al-Badr was allegedly formed by the Pakistani Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) in June 1998.
It was later encouraged by the ISI to operate independently from its previous umbrella group, Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM).
