A student of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has secured the highest international job offer of Rs 3.7 crore per year in the recently concluded annual placement drive conducted by the IIT. While the highest domestic offer this year is Rs 1.7 crore, reported NDTV. Last year, the highest international offer was Rs 2.1 crore and Rs 1.8 crore was the highest domestic offer.
A total of 2,174 students had registered for the campus placement between July 2022 to June 2023, out of which 1,845 students actively participated in placements. According to IIT Bombay, this is the highest number of participating candidates in a year. As many as 16 job offers have been made with annual salaries exceeding Rs 1 crore. IIT Bombay students accepted 194 of the 300 pre-placement offers for the 2022-23 placements.
A total of 65 international job offers were made to the students at IIT-Bombay this year from organisations with offices in the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. In comparison to the 2021-2022 and 2020-2021 placement sessions at the IIT, when Rs 21.50 lakh and Rs 17.91 lakh packages were offered, the average package made during the 2022-2023 placement session is Rs 21.82 lakh per year.
The engineering and technology sector witnessed the maximum number of placements at the IIT Bombay pre-placements with 458 of the participating students securing entry-level positions across 97 engineering companies. A smaller number of students were hired in the information technology and software sectors compared to last year.
As many as 302 students got job offers from over 88 companies in the IT/software sector. While trading, finance, and fintech companies were among the main recruiters. A total of 76 vacancies were available from 32 financial service companies. The most demanding job roles included product management, mobility, data science, analytics, and education. Around 82 per cent of the students who actively participated in the 2022-23 placement drive were successfully placed. Almost 90 per cent of students from BTech, dual-degree, and MTech programmes have secured jobs in this year’s pre-placement at the IIT.
