Watch: MS Dhoni Reveals Biggest Challenge he Faces Maintaining Long Hair

Legendary captain MS Dhoni has spilled the beans on his haircare routine while speaking at a public event a few days ago.

When the Ranchi-born cricketer first emerged in the international circuit, his long hair grabbed the eyeballs which quickly became iconic.

Not only fans but some people from the global cricket fraternity also recognise themselves as an admirer of Dhoni’s hairstyle. However, after leading India to the 2007 T20 World Cup triumph, Dhoni appeared in a new avatar as he cut short his shoulder-length hair.

Though the India legend did some experiments with his hairstyle throughout his international career, he never returned to his long-hair look.

The wait seems to be over now as fans will be able to see Dhoni in his iconic hairstyle in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL).

The Chennai Super Kings captain began to grow his hair after winning the franchise tournament last season. Earlier in October, celebrity hairstylist Aalim Hakim revealed the new look of Dhoni featuring long hair and streaks.

During a recent interview at a promotional event, Dhoni revealed that it was the fans who had always encouraged him to grow his hair once again. But maintaining the long hair is certainly a challenging task for anyone.

According to Dhoni, he used to take only 20 minutes to get ready when he had short hair but after donning the new look, it takes more than an hour. Despite the difficulties, he chose to retain the long-hair style only for the love he received from fans.

“Maintaining this hairstyle is very difficult. Earlier I used to get ready in 20 mins, now it takes 1 hour 10 minutes. I’m doing it because fans like it, but someday I wake up and decide it’s enough, I’ll cut it down,” Dhoni was heard saying in a video.

When Aalim disclosed the new hairstyle of Dhoni, he said that the cricketer took inspiration for his new look from fan art. “Mahi bhai showed me one image of his which was a fanmade image of him with long hair and I just got fascinated with that image and requested him to grow his hair long,” Hakim wrote on Instagram.

Fans went into a frenzy after pictures of Dhoni’s new look surfaced on the internet.
