As 2023 draws to a close, Spotify has released its long-anticipated Wrapped results for the year. On November 29, the renowned music streaming platform unveiled the chart-topping artists who made waves throughout the year. Taylor Swift claimed the title of Global Top Artist, dominating the Wrapped list. Meanwhile, Arijit Singh clinched the title of the most-streamed artist in India for the third consecutive time. The ‘Your Wrapped’ segment, tailored to each user, spilled the beans on stats enthusiasts had been eagerly awaiting for a whole year – from their top-streamed artist to their most-played song, and the total minutes submerged in Spotify. Fans, bubbling with excitement, couldn’t resist sharing their musical journeys on social media.
Yet, amidst the harmonious celebration, a quirky twist ruffled the feathers of Indian Spotify users. Before disclosing the local musical favourites, the app pinpointed a surge of users from Noida. This peculiar geographical flair didn’t exactly strike a chord with the broader Desi community, prompting a collective eye-roll at the assumption that everyone shares the same taste.
