Chennai: The DMK candidate and former Telecom minister Dayanidhi Maran filed his nomination papers for the Chennai Central Lok Sabha constituency in Chennai on Saturday.
Dayanidhi Maran, a sitting MP from Chennai Central is fighting his third straight term. He is facing a five cornered contest in the constituency and his main rival is ruling AIADMK.
After filing his nomination papers, attacking the ruling AIADMK, Maran said "People vouch support for the DMK in my constituency. People suffer from mosquitoes in my constituency. Chennai Corporation produces mosquitoes in millions".
He also said that that the DMK would win in all 39 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu and one LS seat in Puducherry.
Dayanidhi Maran is the grandnephew of DMK chief M Karunanidhi and son of former union minister Murasoli Maran.
Dayanidhi was forced to resign as Union Textiles Minister after his name cropped up in the 2G spectrum scam.
