2G: PAC, CAG hit out at Kapil Sibal's comments
Sibal had slammed the CAG report saying that 2G allocation did not cause any loss to the govt.

New Delhi: Parliament's Public Accounts Committee chief Murli Manohar Joshi on Wednesday criticised Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal for questioning the CAG report on the 2G scam.

The BJP leader said that Sibal's comments were improper and they showed the CAG and the PAC in poor light.

Joshi also added that the PAC had asked him to take any step to stop a repeat of such statements by the minister.

CAG hits out at Sibal

The CAG also hit out at the minister, without naming him.

In a statement issued today, the CAG said," When any matter is under consideration of a Parliamentary Committee, no person including a Member of Parliament should make or publish a statement or comment about that matter. Making public comments on the matter is highly improper and may even amount to contempt of the House."

Sibal had recently slammed the government auditor CAG for its projection of Rs 1.76 lakh crore as presumptive loss on account of 2G spectrum allocation, terming its methodology as "utterly erroneous."

He had said there was "no loss at all" to the exchequer due to allocation of licences and 2G spectrum in 2008.
