AAP questions L-G's decision to send team to Gujarat
A Delhi government team comprising top bureaucrats has been sent to study the feasibility of replicating the model of the Sabarmati Riverfront Development Project for cleaning the Yamuna.

New Delhi: The AAP on Thursday questioned Delhi Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung's decision to send a government team to Gujarat to study the state's model for cleaning rivers and replicate it in Delhi, saying the "ill-timed move will further the political agenda of the BJP".

Criticising the move, the Aam Aadmi Party said that the visit "which will be of no help to the people of Delhi, could have been postponed as the city is faced with power cuts, water shortage and even disruption in Metro services".

A Delhi government team comprising top bureaucrats has been sent to study the feasibility of replicating the model of the Sabarmati Riverfront Development Project for cleaning the Yamuna.

"It is extremely surprising that at a time when the people of Delhi are facing hardships due to power cuts, water shortage and even disruption in Metro services in this scorching summer, the L-G has chosen to send senior bureaucrats to study the subjects which could have been analysed at a later stage," said an AAP statement.

"L-G's decision will merely serve as a propaganda tool for the particular model of development, which has so far only been used for furthering the political agenda of a particular political party."

Citing the Centre for Science and Environment's report on Sabarmati, the AAP said that the river flowing through Ahmedabad is the third most polluted river in the country.
