Moradabad has a sizeable section of minority votes.
New Delhi: Former India Cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin will contest from Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh as a Congress candidate in the Lok Sabha elections.
AICC sources said on Wednesday that a formal announcement was expected either on Wednesday night or Thursday.
They said the Congress would field about 65 candidates in the state, which has the highest of 80 Lok Sabha seats.
The Congress has already announced 39 candidates in the first two list and the third list with the remaining candidates would be released either on Wednesday night or Thursday.
The party would leave a few seats for the Mahan Party and also the Rashtriya Swabhiman Party, led by Mr R K Chowdhury.
