New Delhi: A day after a CNN-IBN special report on Manipur brought out the shock and horror of the ground situation in the state, the Bharatiya Janata Party in Delhi has demanded the imposition of President's Rule in the state.

The BJP delegation led by party spokesperson Prakash Javadekar met Union Home Minister P Chidambaram in New Delhi on Monday and handed over a memorandum demanding President's Rule in Manipur.

BJP alleged that the Congress led government had failed to curb militancy in the state and the law and order situation had deteriorated.

"The constitutional machinery does not exist in the state. When ministers and bureaucrats pay ransom every month, it means the end of the rule of law. We demanded that the government should go lock stock and barrel and President's rule be imposed," Javadekar said meeting Chidambaram.

Former Manipur chief minister W Napamacha and BJP state unit President Borababu Singh were also in the delegation.

Manipur has seen violent protests over the alleged fake encounter of Chongkham Sanjit on 23 July. Another woman, Rabina Devi was also killed in the same encounter.
