Lucknow: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Murli Manohar Joshi on Thursday dared the Congress for an open debate on foreign direct investment (FDI).

Interacting with the media here on the birth anniversary of Jai Prakash Narain, Joshi said a momentum of a JP-like movement of the 1970s against the Congress was building up across the country.

Charging the United Progressive Alliance (UPA)-II with being neck deep in corruption, he said it was diverting attention of the people by raising new issues every day.

FDI was one such issue which was not going to benefit the country and was only a diversionary tactics of the taint-hit Congress, he said.

Hinting at collusion between the Samajwadi Party (SP), Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the Congress, the former human resource development minister said people will not forgive such parties who were playing a dual role with regards to their stand on FDI.

He also slammed the Congress for targeting constitutional bodies like the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) and the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

On the allegations leveled by anti-corruption activist Arvind Kejriwal on businessman and Congress president Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra, the veteran BJP leader said that only an independent probe into the allegations would clear the doubts in the minds of people now.
