Hyderabad: In more trouble for Telugu Desam Party, an Anti-Corruption Bureau team on Tuesday raided arrested MLA Revanth Reddy's residence in the alleged cash-for-vote scam. The ACB also seized his passport and bank passbook.
On May 31, the ACB arrested Reddy for allegedly trying to bribe the nominated MLA Elvis Stephenson to vote for TDP nominee in the Telangana Legislative Council election.
Based on a complaint by Stephenson, ACB officials held Revanth Reddy, Sebastian Harry and Uday Simha after they were caught while allegedly handing over Rs 50 lakh to Stephenson.
On Monday, an audio tape surfaced where Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was allegedly trying to bribe nominated MLA Elvis Stephenson to support his party in the Telangana Legislative Council election. The purported telephonic conversation which gave a new twist to 'cash-for-vote' controversy, the Chief Minister is reportedly telling Stephenson that all commitments will be honoured in return for support during the election.
The Advisor (Communications) to the government Parakala Prabhakar, however, said that the voice is not of the Chief Minister and has called the tape a political conspiracy against the Andhra Pradesh government.
"We can say to the government of Andhra Pradesh is that the conversation is not that of the Chief Minister. We strongly condemned these types of cheap political tricks that have been played· We are going to fight this out Constitutionally, legally and politically," Prabhakar had said.
