Chavan defends extension of Sanjay Dutt's parole, says no rules violated
Actor Sanjay Dutt's parole in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case has been extended up to March 21.

Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan has come to the defense of actor Sanjay Dutt, convict in 1993 Bombay blasts case, whose parole has been extended by the court for the third time.

Chavan on Wednesday said, "No rules were violated in granting parole."

Actor Sanjay Dutt's parole in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case has been extended up to March 21.

Dutt, who is undergoing the remainder of his five-year jail term at Yerawada Central Jail in Pune in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case, was out on a 30-day parole.

Earlier, Dutt's wife Manyata, who has been diagnosed with a tumour in the liver and a suspected heart ailment, was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai.

She was admitted to Global hospital in suburban Mumbai. Dr Ajay Chaughule, a senior heart and cardio thoracic surgeon and heart and lung transplant surgeon at Global Hospital, had said that she needs to undergo some tests, after which it can be decided whether a surgery is required.
