Patna: The Nitish Kumar government is under threat as the state Congress unit has warned of withdrawing its support over the former's remarks against Sonia Gandhi and Rahul over communal riots in the country.
Speaking at a press meet on Tuesday, the JD(U) leader had said, "There is no dispute and it is a fact that the Congress was responsible for the anti-Sikh riots in Delhi and communal riots in Bhagalpur in Bihar."
He went on to add that he was looking to ally with Left parties to fight against the Congress and BJP-led coalitions.
The JD(U)'s 17-year alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party ended in September 2013 after the BJP nominated Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi as its prime ministerial candidate. The JD(U) is opposed to Modi's candidature over the 2002 riots.
In his press meet on Tuesday, Nitish had raised the issue again. "It was the failure of the state government to check and control the riots in which hundreds of people were killed," he said.
