Even as the Congress party continues to gun for External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj over Lalit Modi visa row, former foreign secretary Sujatha Singh has claimed that she has no knowledge about the former Indian Premier League (IPL) commissioner getting travel documents in July 2014.
Sujatha Singh, who was the foreign secretary at the time Lalit Modi got emergency travel documents in July last year, has said, "I don't know anything about it and have nothing to say."
Sujatha Singh was replaced by S Jaishankar as the foreign secretary in January 2015, five months before the end of her tenure.
The statement by the former foreign secretary assumes significance as the Congress has questioned why top officials and bureaucrats in the Narendra Modi government were not informed about the foreign minister's decision to press for Lalit Modi's travel documents.
