Former Home Secretary RK Singh formally joins BJP
Singh, a retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Bihar cadre (1975 batch) was the Union Home Secretary from July 1, 2011 till June 30, 2013.

New Delhi: Former union home secretary RK Singh has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Incidentally, Singh was the district magistrate of Samastipur when senior BJP leader L K Advani was arrested during his rath yatra en route to Ayodhya in UP from Somnath in Gujarat on October 23, 1990.

Singh, a retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Bihar cadre (1975 batch) was the Union Home Secretary from July 1, 2011 till June 30, 2013.

He succeeded GK Pillai and has since been succeeded by Anil Goswami.
