New Delhi: Hitting out at BJP over the BS Yeddyurappa controversy in Karnataka, Congress on Monday said the "comedy, tragedy and farce" in the southern state was affecting the nation as the governance there was all about "corruption, loot and personal ambition."
Describing the tussle for Chief Ministership in Karnataka as "internal matter" of BJP, party spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi said, "The affairs in Karnataka BJP government reflect a tragedy, comedy and farce."
Alleging that BJP in Karnataka was engaged only in corruption, personal ambition and sharing loot, the Congress spokesperson said that BJP is "not only faction ridden or faction riven" but engaged in "game of loot".
The Congress reaction on the Karnatka BJP affairs came on a day, when amid mounting pressure on BJP leadership for reinstating him as Karnataka Chief Minister, Yeddyurappa today fielded a rebel candidate for Rajya Sabha polls even as party chief Nitin Gadkari said an "appropriate" decision on his demand will be taken soon.
Karnataka Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda meanwhile rejected Yeddyurappa camp's demand on Sunday for convening a legislature party meeting within 48 hours, saying it would be called only after presentation of the budget which he is due to unveil on Wednesday. The budget session of the state Assembly commences tomorrow.
BJP has a strength of 120 legislators, including the Speaker, in the 224-member Assembly.
In the face of the fresh crisis facing BJP, Gadkari said no decision would be made under pressure and asked Yeddyurappa to have patience.
