Govt likely to bring Food Security ordinance in Parliament
The government wants to bring it before the Election Commission announces dates for the state polls in September.

New Delhi: The government has on Tuesday indicated that it may soon bring in the Food Security ordinance in Parliament as there seems to be no consensus between parties.

The government wants to bring it before the Election Commission announces dates for the state polls in September. It wants to pass the ordinance and seek a vote on it within six months.

The government was facing opposition from its key ally and NCP chief Sharad Pawar and Food Minister KV Thomas.

The Bharatiya Janata Party had asked the government to wait for the Monsoon Session and they were ready for the discussion on it.

Earlier, Finance Minister P Chidambaram had said that they might convene a special session to pass the Food Bill.
