Shimla: Himachal Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on Thursday dubbed the preliminary enquiry registered by the CBI against him and his family members in the alleged disproportionate assets as "political vendetta."
"Me and my family members are being targeted out of political vendetta and the preliminary enquiry registered by the CBI against me and my family members in the alleged disproportionate assets case is a part of it," he said in a statement.
"It is merely a political vendetta against me and witch-hunting being manipulated by NDA government on behest of former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal," he alleged. Virbhadra Singh said that earlier also he faced session trial twice and came out clear in all the cases which were intentionally filed against him out of frustration by the BJP.
Chief Minister said that everybody was aware that false and fabricated cases were made against him in the past and lot of adverse publicity was made against him but every time he got clean chit from Courts. Virbhadra Singh would celebrate his 82nd birthday on June 23 and the government has planned mega celebrations to mark the completion of 30 months of government in office at Una on June 25.
The state BJP chief Satpal Singh Satti said, "The move by CBI to institute preliminary enquiry against Virbhadra Singh, his wife, son and daughter established that there was "truth" in the allegations leveled by the party against them and he should immediately resign to facilitate a free and fair probe."
