Ambala: INLD leader Abhay Chautala on Saturday said his party will support Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi "unconditionally" for the post of Prime Minister if required.
Chautala, however, clarified that INLD will not forge an alliance with BJP for the forthcoming general elections.
"INLD will not forge any political alliance with BJP in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections... yet, if any situation arises where Narendra Modi requires support from MPs, then INLD will unconditionally support him for the post of Prime Minister," Chautala said.
He said INLD will not forge any alliance with BJP even if the Kuldeep Bishnoi-led Haryana Janhit Congress merged with that party.
Replying to a question, he said his party will make every effort to remove Congress from power and if any political party joined its campaign, INLD will welcome it.
Chautala accused Congress of misusing the CBI against INLD Chief Om Parkash Chautala as he had opposed alleged illegal allotment of land to Congress President Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra in Haryana.
Chautala claimed that the INLD chief had been targetted because he had announced a high-level inquiry in the matter if INLD came to power.
Earlier, addressing a party workers meeting in Matherishekhan village near here, Chautala accused the state government of illegally acquiring land from farmers for setting up SEZ and later offering it to builders.
