J&K Grand Mufti fumes as Modi plans to rehabilitate Kashmiri pandits
The Centre has been considering the state's proposal for return of Kashmiri Pandits to the valley.

Srinagar: Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, religious leader Grand Mufti Bashiruddin Ahmad has hit out at the Centre over the contentious issue of rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits.

Opposing the the NDA government's plan of rehabilitating Kashmiri pandits, Grand Mufti has termed it as a political conspiracy. He has also warned of protests in the valley. "We have discussed the issue of pundits. We want them to return but there are being reestablished here because of a conspiracy. We will strongly oppose it," Grand mufti said.

The Centre has been considering the state's proposal for return of Kashmiri Pandits to the valley. The Omar Abdullah government had also proposed increasing the package for return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri pandits.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had said that he was looking forward to work with the new government at the Centre on return of displaced Kashmiri Pandit community to the Valley. "I look forward to working with the new government as they unveil their plans for the honourable return of the displaced Pandit community," Omar wrote on his Twitter account.
