PERAMABLUR: The family of Chief Minister M Karunanidhi has ‘appropriated’ Rs 1.80 lakh crore from the 2G scam and is utilising it to run its television channels even as the scam has challenged the national security, AIADMK leader J Jayalalithaa said here on Sunday.
At a campaign meeting in the home district of former union minister A Raja, Jayalalithaa introduced the party candidates R Tamil Selvan (Peramablaur SC), Durai Manivel (Ariyalur) and P Ilavalagan (Jayankondam) and the DMDK candidate Durai Kamaraj (Kunnam).
Referring to the local issues of Peramblaur and Ariyalur districts, she promised the people that the Visvakudi water conservation scheme would be revived. She also promised an overbridge at Vannarampoondi village in V Kalathur across the Kallaru and an onion cold storage.
The issues relating to Ariyalur, Jayankondam and Kunnam would also be amicably settled, she assured the gathering. The present Ariyalur district would be retained as a separate revenue district, she added.
