Kochi: Kerala High Court Advocates Association on Tuesday passed a resolution, requesting President Pranab Mukherjee not to appoint former Chief Justice of India P Sathasivam as Kerala Governor.
The association passed the resolution with a thumping majority during an extra-ordinary general body meeting held on Tuesday. Only two members opposed the resolution, association sources said.
Association President Shaji P Chaly and secretary MR Nandakumar will formally intimate the decision to the President. According to the association, the independence of the judiciary will be affected if a person who held the highest post of judiciary is appointed as the Governor, which is a political appointment.
