New Delhi: 3:02 pm: Rajya Sabha has been adjourned for the day minutes after it resumes at 3 pm after the MPs refused to relent over the issue of the Prime Minister's statement in Parliament.

2:30 pm: Both houses of Parliament saw uproar in the aftermath of the Prime Minister's statement over the missing files pertaining to the allocation of coal blocks leading to frequent disruptions in Parliament.

12:51 pm: The Rajya Sabha has been adjourned till 2 pm following uproar over the Prime Minister's statement on 'missing coal files'.

12:50 pm MoS Parliamentary affairs Rajeev Shukla defended the Prime Minister and said, "The PM had intervened and the queries will be responded by the minister."

12:46 pm: The Prime Minister's statement has been slammed by the BJP which said that he did not give answers to any questions raised regarding the case. "PM did not answer any questions raised by members. He is trying to escape from the issue. This is not acceptable," senior BJP leader Venkaiaha Naidu said.

12:40 pm: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh while making a statement in Rajya Sabha said that a lot of files sought by the CBI have already been handed over to the agency. He said that it is too early to say that some files have gone missing. "Over 1 lakh files have already been handed over. This shows that the intention is clear. The government has provided full cooperation to the CBI and will continue to do so," Singh said.

12:38 pm: Trinamool Congress targeted the Prime Minister demanding to know who should be held responsible for the missing files if the PM is not the 'custodian' of files. "Who is the custodian of the files as the PM had said that he is not the custodian?," TMC MP Derek O' Brien said.

12:37 pm: AIADMK MP Maitreyan held the Prime Minister responsible for the missing coal files. "The Prime Minister said that he is not the custodian of the files, but he is the custodian of the PMO," he said.

12:35 pm: CPM leader Sitaram Yechury said that they are not satisfied with the statement by the Coal Minister. Yechury questioned the government over the issue and asked the reason why no FIR had been filed and no investigation had been done in the case.

12:28 pm: Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha slammed the government over the missing coal files and said that the allocation had been made in an arbitrary manner without any proper process. He alleged that all the files that are missing are related to important functionaries in the government.

11:15 am: MPs created uproar in the Lok Sabha over the 'missing coal' files. The House has been adjourned till 12 pm after the uproar. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is expected to intervene over the issue in Rajya Sabha after the zero hour.

After getting an approval for the Food Security Bill in the Parliament, the UPA government is planning to push other pending bills in the last week of the monsoon session of Parliament. It is aiming to introduce the Pensions Bill in Parliament on Tuesday to overhaul the old age income security schemes offered by the government.

The Land Bill which seeks to provide greater consensual power and compensation to land owners in land acquisition processes is also expected to come up for debate in Rajya Sabha on Tuesday. The bill was passed in the Lok Sabha last week.
