10:40 am: The BJP-led NDA has begun protests inside the Parliament complex. It is seeking the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's resignation over the CAG report on coal block allocations, which puts the loss higher than that of the 2G scam.

The Opposition hasn't allowed the House to function for almost two weeks over the coal scam. The BJP's demands of ordering an independent inquiry and cancellation of coal licences have so far fallen on deaf ears. The NDA is blaming the Congress for the deadlock in Parliament.

JD(U) chief Sharad Yadav said, "I oppose the idea of extending the session or calling a special session. There has been no solution till now, so what's the point?"

"The PM is the head of this corrupt coalition Government. And if the PM is let off then no one else would fear the law. BJP won't let the PM go scot free," BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said.

The month-long Monsoon session of Parliament ends on Friday and it may have just been one of the least productive sessions of all time. An aggressive Sonia Gandhi, honourable members behaving dishonourably and 13 days of no work - That is the report card of the Monsoon session that was washed out courtesy the CAG report on coal.

"This is a bigger scam, each minute of Parliament costs the government Rs 30,000 and we haven't worked at all," said Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni.

When the session began on August 8, 30 bills were on government's agenda including crucial finance bills such as The Banking Laws (Amendment) Bill and the Insurance Laws (Amendment) Bill. But none of these contentious bills were taken up.

Education bills were also not taken up.
