The government is likely to amend the Lokpal bill to include the Leader of largest opposition party in the selection committee.
New Delhi: The Narendra Modi government is all set to amend the Lokpal Bill. The Department of Personnel and Training's proposal for the amendment has been received, said Law Ministry sources on Saturday.
The government has begun the amendment process.
The government is likely to amend the Lokpal bill to include the Leader of largest opposition party in the selection committee.
As of now, only a Leader of Opposition is mentioned in the Bill. But as none of the parties failed to get the Opposition party status in the Lok Sabha, there was no Leader of Opposition.
A party needs to have 10 per cent of the total seat in Lok Sabha, ie 55 MPs, to qualify as the Opposition party.
