Omar Abdullah on Thursday had said the Army's refusal to remove the controversial act is not an option.

New Delhi: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday met Defence Minister AK Antony amid the controversy over the issue of lifting Armed Forces Special Powers Act from some part of the state.

Abdullah met Antony in New Delhi this afternoon and the two are understood to have discussed AFSPA. Abdullah wants that the Act should be withdrawn in some parts of Jammu and Kashmir as they have returned to normalcy.

However, the army has opposed to the move, fearing there will be a flood of cases against it once AFSPA is removed. The Act gives immunity to the defence forces in areas where it is in force.

Both the Defence Minister and Abdullah were tight-lipped about the meeting.

"Yes I have just finished meeting the Defence Minister & no, I don't intend to speak to the media for the time being," Abdullah said on Twitter.

Abdullah has earlier held meetings with senior army officials in Jammu and Kashmir on the removal of AFSPA.
