Jaipur: Former Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje will step down as Leader of Opposition in the Rajasthan Assembly after the session on Friday

Sources have told CNN-IBN that Raje will not be defying BJP leadership on moving out of Rajasthan.

Raje also chaired a meeting of BJP MLAs on Wednesday despite being told by BJP President Rajnath Singh to not do so.

The meeting was attended by 68 MLAs backing her including the two MLAs - Rajendra Rathod and Gyandeo Ahuja - from BJP who were suspended by the party leadership.

All MLAs supporting Raje have decided to boycott the Rajasthan Assembly session starting Thursday to protest the suspension of three MLAs from the Assembly by the Speaker.

Ahuja along with MLAs Bhawani Singh Rajawat and Hemsingh Bhadana has been suspended by Speaker Deepender Singh Shekhavat on July 28 for the remaining period of the Assembly.

Raje has been asked to step down as Leader of Opposition in Rajasthan Assembly following BJP's debacle in the Lok Sabha elections in the state.

The BJP saw its tally of 21 seats out of the total 25 in the state came down to four in the Lok Sabha elections.
