SP is supporting UPA to keep communal forces away: Akhilesh
UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav added that the Samajwadi Party would enter the fray whenever they take place.

Lucknow: Justifying Samajwadi Party (SP) president Mulayam Singh Yadav's decision to continue support to the UPA, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Friday said that this was necessary to keep communal forces at bay. "I do not want to get into the arithmetic.. We are supporting the UPA government to keep the communal forces out of power and any decision on withdrawing the support would be taken by the SP president," the UP Chief Minister said.

Akhilesh, who is also state SP president, was talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function in Lucknow. To a specific question, he said that the SP was always ready for elections and added that the party would enter the fray whenever they take place. "We are ready for snap polls," he said.

Earlier in the day, Mulayam had made it clear that he won't withdraw support to the UPA government as he cannot support 'communal parties', but added that the Congress itself will go for elections this year itself. "We don't want the Bharatiya Janata Party and their allies to bring the government down. Why should we bring the government down for eight to nine months," said Mulayam.
