Kolkata: The website of the ruling Trinamool Congress in West Bengal was on Wednesday restored, a day after it was hacked reportedly by a Bangladesh-based group.
Party sources said the US-hosted website www.aitmc.org was hacked more than once on Tuesday evening but was fixed on Wednesday.
The party's website was remodelled before the last assembly election by Hotmail founder Sabeer Bhatia.
"It was blocked for a few hours but there was no damage to the site. We have lodged a complaint with the cyber cell of the Kolkata Police to get to the bottom of the truth," MP and party's cyber team head Derek O' Brien said.
A hacker's group, 'Bangladesh Black Hat Hackers', has on their Facebook page written that the state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had reneged on her promise on sharing of Teesta river water with the country.
With images of men and women dressed in black, the party's website, after being hacked, had the message saying, "Ever feel like you're in the wrong place? We will continue our war till any written government declaration or international
announcement is made."
The hacker consortium also claimed to have breached thousands of Indian websites, including that of the BSF.
The cyber war against India started after it was reported that some Indian hackers have attacked some Bangladesh government websites.
"We are investigating as to whether the hacking was done by the Bangladeshi group or not," said Murlidhar Sharma, city detective department's deputy commissioner.
