'Unhappy' Shiv Sena hits out at BJP, says it remembers allies only when it's short of majority
"We want discussions on key issues inside Parliament. BJP leaders used to keep allies in the loop, not anymore," said Sena leader Sanjay Raut.

New Delhi: Trouble seemed to be mounting for the Bharatiya Janata Party ahead of the Monsoon session of Parliament as its ally Shiv Sena on Monday expressed its displeasure on not consulting it on key bills.

The Narendra Modi government is already facing a turbulent time in bringing the Opposition on board to let the House function in the Monsoon session starting from July 21.

Hitting out at the BJP, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut said, "Finally, the government has realised that they need the support of all allies. The BJP only remembers allies when they fall short of a majority. We want discussions on key issues inside Parliament. BJP leaders used to keep allies in the loop, but not anymore."

Raut had earlier said, "We share DNA with BJP. I'm sure something will come out of meeting today and we will stand together in Parliament."

With the Opposition demanding the ouster of Union Minister Sushma Swaraj, Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and her Madhya Pradesh counterpart Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Lalit Modi row and Vyapam scam, it is very unlikely that parties would relent and let the passage of the Bill.

Swaraj and Raje came under opposition attack over allegedly helping former Indian Premier League chief Lalit Modi. While Swaraj claimed to have no objection to Lalit Modi's request to travel out of UK, Raje allegedly helped him to get UK stay permit.

BJP CM Chouhan came under fire over the multi-crore Vyapam in which at least 49 people have died. The Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam relates to irregularities in admission in state-run medical colleges and recruitment in government jobs.

Under continuous Opposition attack and unhappy ally, it will be difficult for the government to get the key Bills passed. The government has finalised 35 items of business for the Monsoon session, which included nine bills pending in Rajya Sabha and four pending in Lok Sabha, besides introduction of 11 new bills.
