It was in this pre-digital world that Thomas Knoll dreamed up and created Display, a pixel imaging program. Display was purchased by the then nascent software company Adobe, and in 1990 - 25 years ago - was released under a new, now famous name - Photoshop - the software synonymous with image editing. On its 25th anniversary, we look back at the world into which it was born to recognise what an awesome transformation it has undergone.####
