With the iPhone 16 series launch still a few months away, fresh rumors are surfacing regarding the purported battery sizes for the upcoming models. According to tipster Majin Bu on X (formerly Twitter), there’s speculation that both the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro will feature much larger batteries in comparison to their iPhone 15 counterparts. On the flip side, it’s suggested that the iPhone 16 Plus might opt for a smaller battery than its predecessor.
Furthermore, the tipster indicates a notable change for the iPhone 16 Pro Max, stating that it will adopt a standard rectangular battery, departing from the L-shaped battery featured in the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Regarding the alleged battery capacities, Bu notes that the iPhone 16 will have a 3,561 mAh battery, compared to the 3,349 mAh unit of the iPhone 15. While the iPhone 16 Plus variant will drastically drop in capacity to 4,006 mAh, down from 4,383 mAh of the current model. The iPhone 16 Pro Max, too, may get a larger battery in the form of a 4,676 mAh unit.
It raises eyebrows to consider why Apple might choose to reduce the capacity of the iPhone 16 Plus. However, it’s important to remember that these are currently only rumours, and it’s wise to take them with a grain of salt until more concrete information emerges or until the devices are in users’ hands.
Nevertheless, the upcoming iPhone 16 models are anticipated to introduce several features, such as native AI capabilities and a rumored “capture button” in the Pro models, among others. These new iPhones 16 models are expected in September later this year.
