New Delhi: As the upcoming Windows 10 nears its summer release, Microsoft has been regularly posting updates about the new features its upcoming OS will boast of. In the latest revelation, Microsoft has announced that the operating system’s default browser-Microsoft Edge- will support the Dolby Audio sound format.
Microsoft notes in its blog that the Dolby Audio support will allow websites to match the compelling visuals of H.264 video with equally compelling multi-channel audio.
Beyond supporting Dolby Digital Plus in Windows 10, the Edge browser will be the first one to come with built-in support for the surround sound codec, an Engadget report notes.
An in-built support for Dolby Digital Plus portable mode basically means even if you don’t have a home stereo connected to your PC or tablet, as the company claims, you would still be able to enjoy louder and clearer audio via laptop speakers or headphones.
This also means your Netflix experience will be richer in terms of audio quality and you would be able to have surround sound streaming through the web browser with new media extensions- a feature currently not supported on Silverlight or HTML5.
