The latest is the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition smartphone, and its design is inspired from the MCL33 2018 Formula 1 car. This is the third such special edition smartphone from OnePlus, with the earlier being OnePlus 6 Avengers Edition, and OnePlus 5T Star Wars Edition. The device has been priced at Rs 50,999 and can be purchased exclusively on Amazon.in and OnePlus.in from December 15. Users will also be able to buy the phone starting December 13 at OnePlus Experience store in Delhi. While, OnePlus 6T Price starts at Rs. 37,999. The lowest price of OnePlus 6T is at Amazon, which is of same price as the cost of 6T at Oneplusstore (Rs. 37999). This phone is available in 128 GB, 128 GB, 256 GB storage variants. How does the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition stand up to the standard 6T? Let’s find out.

OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition:

This comes at a time when most phones now offer 6GB or even 8GB RAM options. If you are really intent on doing resource intensive tasks on the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition, such as perhaps editing multiple streams of 4K videos, this could pretty much be on the ball without kicking out other apps running in the background.

The OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition also introduces the new Warp Charge 30 charging technology, which is could become the standard in its upcoming phones. The Warp Charge 30 charges more than 50 percent of the 3,700mAh battery in just 20 minutes. There are new Integrated Circuits in both the updated charger and the phone, as well as updated power management software, which handles 30 watts of power flow from the charger to the phone—all this to keep the charge consistent and reduce heat emission. The power cable, which is also in McLaren's Papaya Orange colour, is braided and feels significantly more robust and industrial than most other charging cables.

Incidentally, the Warp Charge feature only works on the OnePlus 6T McLaren edition, and if you are to use the Warp Charge charger with any other OnePlus 6T phone, it will default to the fast charge speeds. The new hardware and power management software in the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition phone enables the even faster charging capabilities, and the other phones don’t have the same hardware or software.

The OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition otherwise is pretty much your default OnePlus 6T, on the specifications sheet. This is also powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, a 6.41-inch Optic AMOLED display (2,340 x 1,080 resolution), and the dual 16-megapixel and 20-megapixel cameras at the back. This special edition phone will only be available in the 256GB storage variant, while the other OnePlus 6T phones are available in 128GB and 256GB storage options, with 6GB or 8GB of RAM.

This is not the first time OnePlus has made a special edition phone. Before this, there was the OnePlus 5T Star Wars Edition and the OnePlus 6 Marvel Avengers Edition. Both phones had a tweaked version of the Oxygen OS running on them, with additional themes, colour palettes and wallpapers. And that is the same with the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition, which gets a new black and orange theme to go with the outer personality of the phone as well as a special animation for the in-display fingerprint sensor.

OnePlus 6T:

The highlights of the OnePlus 6T are that it now has a 6.41-inch display with the 19.5:9 aspect ratio, and this screen is larger than the 6.28-inch display sported by the OnePlus 6. The display type remains the Optic AMOLED type and has the 2,340 x 1080 resolution. The notch cutout on the screen has been significantly redesigned, is now much smaller and resembles the teardrop. There is an in-display fingerprint sensor as well, which makes the 6T the first OnePlus phone to offer this feature.

OnePlus has completely refreshed the OxygenOS interface. This has been done to make it work better with the newest Android 9 Pie—but brings additional features to the table such as a Gaming Mode and a Smart Boost for even better performance.

The battery capacity has been boosted to 3,700mAh (up from 3,300mAh in the OnePlus 6), and if we are to factor in the battery performance enhancements that the Android 9 Pie operating system brings to the table as it is, this could really return some impressive battery stats even with heavy usage.

OnePlus retains the dual camera setup at the back, with the primary 16-megapixel camera and the secondary 20-megapixel camera. There is a 16-megapixel selfie camera as well.
