Realme GT 6T Brings Many Goods Things For A Decent Value
Realme GT 6T Brings Many Goods Things For A Decent Value
Realme is bringing its first GT phone in India after a two year hiatus and continues with its focus on performance and value.

Realme GT series has made its comeback in the Indian market this year after a brief hiatus. The GT series from the brand has been recognised for its performance-centric products, and the new Realme GT 6T builds on that premise albeit with a different price focus. The last few years has seen smartphone prices go up and the deal is being sweetened by sprinkling some premium features. The moment you browse through the specs sheet of Realme GT 6T you notice the similarities with the recently launched Poco F6 that also has a similar product trajectory.

Realme GT and Poco F-series phones have a fan following but even they will find it tough to choose between these two devices. We have already used the Poco F6 model this year, and when we decided to test the Realme GT 6T the comparisons were hard to avoid. Here’s our detailed view on Realme’s new GT 6T phone and what it offers to the buyer.

Snapdragon Power Does Its Job

Realme GT 6T uses the new Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 chipset, the first to do so in the country. This SoC is based on a 4nm process similar to the flagship 8 Gen series but with minute tweaks to keep its costs down.

However, you don’t notice the compromise while using the GT 6T which showed its capability and raw power that can handle any tasks. You can enjoy the basic mobile activities or even play games, and the device won’t break a sweat. Even the benchmark scores show its worth if those things matter to you.

On the software side, you get the Realme UI 5 version based on Android 14 and once again we noticed the UI to be smooth and work without many stutters. However, the bloatware problem continues and we are forced to mention it again.

Display That Shines

Realme GT 6T does its best to be considered a premium device. It sports a curved LTPO panel with 1.5K AMOLED resolution that claims to have 6000 nits of peak brightness.

While those numbers are hard to ascertain, what we can say is that the GT 6T will never let you down with its screen brightness outdoors, or let you enjoy videos or gaming on the crisp and contrast-y 6.78-inch display that gets Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection. Having an AMOLED panel means the deep blacks show their worth and the bleeding lights are negated.

Last For Hours, Or Even Days?

Despite carrying a lightweight body, the GT 6T packs a 5500mAh battery which supports 120W charging speed. These are better than the 5000mAh battery and 90W charging offered by the Poco F6. But do these upgrades translate into real-time improvements? Yes, they do it quite well.

The GT 6T offers 8 hours of screen-on-time which is decent but could get better if your usage isn’t tuned to heavy like ours. The bundled charger allows the phone to be charged in around 25 minutes, and most of you would take that.

Camera Delivery Underwhelming

Realme GT 6T also gets a dual camera system with a 50MP sensor and an 8MP ultrawide sensor like the Poco F6. The main camera does its job to some extent in daylight conditions but you tend to notice the details aren’t that clear when you zoom into the photos. The low-light quality needs a fix and it is likely possible with a new update.

The resulting images without decent light show its deficiency and even the ultrawide sensor needs to be worked out to become a reliable second-in-command.

Classy But Plain-Ish Design

Realme has gone for a dual-tone colour and finish on the back of the GT 6T. The top portion is glossy and a fingerprint magnet while the lower part is made of plastic which isn’t ideal for a phone that costs over Rs 30,000. Realme seems to have made this compromise on the frame as well, most likely to accommodate the other costs incurred. We have mixed feelings about the design, especially with those large camera sensors but that is becoming common across range.

Realme GT 6T does really well with its display, overall performance even though its UI has bloatware. The cameras could use some improvements but the battery life keeps you ticking for long. Compared to this, the Poco F6 also offers decent performance, and a better build quality. These will be takers for either of these devices but if you want an LTPO panel with powerful performance, the Realme GT 6T is the ideal pick off the two.
