Watch: Google Unwraps Android 7.0 'Nougat'
While it was expected that the Indian-origin chief would eventually settle for 'Neyappam' as the name, the popular vote has favoured 'Nougat'.

Google has finally decided on a name for its Android 'N' operating system version 7.0. CEO Sundar Pichai had first announced that the name for Android N could be chosen via an online poll during his visit to India in December 2015 and added that he would also ask his mother for suggestions. While it was expected that the Indian-origin chief would eventually settle for 'Neyappam' as the name, the popular vote has favoured 'Nougat'. Traditionally, all the previous versions of the Android operating system have been named after sweets starting from Cupcake, Donut, to Jelly Bean, Lollipop, and Marshmallow. However, there has been only one exception of 4.4 version which was called KitKat, named after the popular chocolate candy bar. Unveiling the statue of the newest version, Android posted a video that shows the popular Android mascot standing on a nougat bar.
