Actor Vikas Sethi, known for his roles in popular 2000s serials such as Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kasautii Zindagii Kay, Uttaran and Sasural Simar Ka, passed away on Sunday, September 8. The 48-year-old actor died in his sleep due to a massive cardiac arrest. His sudden death has left his co-stars, friends, and fans in deep shock.
Jaswir Kaur, Vikas’s co-star from K Street Pali Hill, expressed her disbelief and sorrow upon learning of his passing. Talking to ETimes, she said, “It’s really shocking to hear that Vikas is no more. All our friends from the industry are unable to accept this. My heart goes out to his wife and young children. I hope they get the strength to go through this tough time.”
Jaswir also shared that she had known Vikas for 20 years, highlighting their frequent encounters. “I know him as a co-actor and have always had a good time shooting with him. We were also part of the Box Cricket league, which ended five years ago. So, post K Street Pali Hill, we again connected during the league. I always felt he was very sorted as a human being. I didn’t connect with him over calls or messages, but as we live nearby, I would bump into him at times, and that’s how we have met. Every time we met, we spoke to each other in Punjabi,” she recounted.
Vikas’ co-stars Delnaaz Irani and Hiten Tejwani also paid tribute to their dear friend. Delnaaz recalled to Hindustan Times, “Vikas was a wonderful and warm person. When you work, you form a bond, and after the project wraps up, often connections are lost. We shared the same warm camaraderie in the recent ad we did. He seemed hale and hearty, but as they say, life is unpredictable.”
Hiten, who collaborated with Vikas on two serials, added, “We had a great rapport, and since we were doing two shows together, we’d hang out post-work. He was a mast-khush kind of person. Doston ka dost and always there for you.”
Vikas is survived by his wife, Jhanvi, and their twin sons. In a statement to news agency PTI, Jhanvi said that Vikas fell ill shortly after they arrived in Nashik for a family function. Despite experiencing symptoms and vomiting, he refused to go to the hospital, leading them to call a doctor to their home. When Jhanvi went to wake him up at 6 am the following morning, she discovered that he had passed away. The doctors later confirmed that Vikas had succumbed to a massive cardiac arrest.
