The popular singing reality programme Indian Idol is all set to return to television screens with its 14th season. Over the years, it has given a platform for many talented singers to flourish in the field. This year, the judges panel would include some of the most revered names in the Indian music industry. Shreya Ghoshal, Kumar Sanu, and Vishal Dadlani will assess the skills of these aspiring singers to determine who is India’s new singing sensation. The new season is even more special as Hussain Kuwajerwala returns as host after 8 long years.
Speaking about hosting Indian Idol 14, Hussain Kuwajerwala remarked, “This season of the show truly will be ‘music ka sabse bada tyohaar’ and I am so happy to return to Indian Idol, which has given me so much recognition in my earlier days in the industry. I truly enjoy listening to the raw talent that we find from across the length and breadth of the country, and being a part of their journey is an extremely rewarding experience,” as reported by ETimes.
The actor acknowledges the fact that the format of anchoring has changed over the years, and Hussain Kuwajerwala mentioned, “The biggest transition from then to now is, instead of hosting being serious, it’s now more about interacting with judges, special guests, and the audience.” He added that, as a host, his first role at the present time is to put the candidates at ease and foster a good environment in which they can perform to their full capacity. Further, he informed that they have “begun shooting the initial phase of the show and working with Shreya, Vishal and Kumar Da has been wonderful.”
Hussain Kuwajerwala has done many TV shows over decades but rose to prominence after landing a significant role in the popular soap opera Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and as the lead in Kumkum – Ek Pyaara Sa Bandhan opposite Juhi Parmar. He initially hosted five seasons of Indian Idol and one season of Indian Idol Junior.
Meanwhile, Indian Idol 14 will begin broadcasting on Saturday and Sunday at 8 p.m. on October 7. The show will air on Sony Entertainment Television and stream digitally on SonyLiv. The auditions for the upcoming season started on August 11. The reality show Indian Idol was launched in 2004 and has been a Sony TV staple ever since.
