A Chennai-based IT firm has taken significant steps to boost employee morale and productivity. In a grand Diwali gesture, the company, Team Detailing Solutions, gifted 28 cars and 29 bikes to its dedicated employees. The impressive lineup of vehicles included top models from renowned brands like Hyundai, Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors and Mercedes-Benz. This aimed to appreciate the hard work of the company’s 180 highly-skilled employees, many of whom came from modest backgrounds.
Managing Director Sridhar Kannan stressed on the importance of recognising employees’ contributions through performance-based rewards. He told Vartha Bharati, a Kannada daily newspaper, “We wanted to show our appreciation for their (employees) tireless efforts in driving the company’s success. We believe our employees are our greatest assets. Our employees have demonstrated exceptional commitment and dedication, and we are proud to recognise their achievements.”
This is not the first time the firm has gone the extra mile to recognise its employees. In 2022, the company gifted cars to two senior employees. Kanaan explained, “We select the candidates who are highly motivated and the concept of buying a car or a bike is like a dream for them.”
In addition to these gifts, the firm has increased its financial assistance for employee weddings, raising the support from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh this year.
Meanwhile, Tata Motors also credited Diwali bonuses to nearly 10,000 permanent workers just 24 hours after the funeral of Ratan Tata, the former Chairman of the Tata Group, who died on October 9. Each permanent employee received a bonus of Rs 49,000, with contracted workers also compensated according to their contracts.
This year marked the first time the Khande Navami festival was not celebrated at the Pimpri plant, as employees gathered to pay their respects to Ratan Tata. The plant employs around 40,000 people. Union President Shishupal Tomar remarked on the emotional impact of receiving the bonus during this difficult time. “The management credited the Diwali bonus into the workers’ accounts within 24 hours of the final rites for our revered leader. Receiving this bonus during such a sad time has made the workers even more emotional,” he said.
