'Deal With It': Internet Furious Over Woman's Comment On Small Seats In Airplanes

In a recent Instagram video, plus-size Panamanian model and social media influencer, Gracie Bon, has instigated a conversation about the adequacy of airline seat sizes for larger passengers. The 25-year-old model, known for her body positivity advocacy, candidly addressed the challenges faced by individuals like her when travelling by air.

In her video, Bon expressed her frustration with the discomfort and impracticality of fitting into standard airplane seats, despite having purchased two seats on flights. “Buying two seats on a plane does not fix my problem of being a bigger person on a plane,” she emphasised. Bon further highlighted the inherent inadequacy of current seating arrangements, asserting that “Aeroplane seats are too small for big people.”

Bon’s video showcased her navigating the familiar scenario of boarding a plane, drawing attention to the stares and glances from other passengers as she made her way to her seats. Responding to a user’s comment, she confirmed that she does indeed utilise two seats during flights, strapping herself in the middle of the pair to ensure a comfortable journey.

“It’s 2024, bodies are changing so planes should too,” Bon asserted, advocating for a shift towards more inclusive seating options. “I won’t lose my butt to fit on a plane, so give me another solution or just make the seats bigger,” she added.

However, Bon’s call for change has met with mixed reactions. A poll conducted by LADbible on Instagram revealed that over 50 per cent of respondents do not believe airlines should enlarge plane seats. Some suggested that individuals like Bon should continue purchasing additional seats if they can afford it.

Nevertheless, Bon’s plea for more accommodating seating options has also faced criticism, with some accusing her of undergoing plastic surgery or suggesting that her inability to fit into an aeroplane seat is solely her responsibility.

Amidst the debate, comments on Bon’s Instagram posts ranged from suggestions to “buy your own plane” to scepticism about the notion of changing body sizes in 2024.

A user argued saying, “You can’t just make bigger seats on a passenger-sized plane. If you want bigger seats, every part on the plane has to be made bigger too to make up for all that.”
