Many people are curious to know about their roots. Some even get a DNA test done for this purpose. While DNA tests have helped many find their relatives, today we will talk about a man who found out a shocking truth about his ex-lover. He shared his story on social media platform, Reddit and asked the internet if he should share this important information with his now ex-girlfriend. As per reports, the Reddit user shared that he and his girlfriend first met in college, while they were working at the student ration station. He shared that right after meeting, they hit it off as friends and began talking. After a few months, he gathered the courage and asked her out on a date, to which she agreed. He claimed that they were very happy and eager to know many things about each other. They quickly found out that she was born in the same small town where his grandmother lived. In fact, his girlfriend’s middle name was the same as his grandmother’s. Believing it to be a coincidence, he thought that they shared a similar history who share similar upbringing and found themselves quite compatible.
The Reddit user further explained that as time passed, their relationship progressed and they began to spend more time with each other. One day, his girlfriend became angry and messaged him and then blocked him off everywhere. She broke up with him which left him sad. Meanwhile, his uncle decided to make a family tree and got a DNA test done. What was later revealed in it left the Reddit user shocked.
He added that his uncle began talking about his ancestors. During the conversation, he mentioned his grandmother and was shocked to hear her name. He also learned a great deal about his great-grandmother. It turned out that his great-granny was also his girlfriend’s great grandmother. He then figured out that this might be the reason why their appearances were alike. The man was shocked to know that the person whom he wanted to marry was actually his cousin. He concluded that he will absolutely never tell his family and felt like this is “the kind of thing he should take to the grave.”
